Medication Requesting

So - no surge in demand to see records yet...

I will be targeting specific individuals in January - but how do my surgery patients request repeat medication throughout this year?

Well it seems they average 550-600 items per month ordered 'on-line', without a major variation across the seasons. I am at a loss to explain activity in February 2011 - no major snowfall to blame and the shortest month of the year - perhaps they had finally depleted the Christmas and New Year stockpiles?

I hope they are all stocked-up for Christmas 2011!

  1. You will need to actively recruit. No-one really knows about records access or what benefits it can deliver. Receptionists and clinicians are the main recruiters. Recommend it to people with LTCs who will benefit most, particularly those who have lots of blood tests and go in and out of hospital a lot.

    Good luck with this initiative!

  2. Thanks Brian - constructive suggestion accepted! But being a stubborn independent GP (there are a lot of us), I sort of had to work that out from my own experience and the reaction of my patients. Perhaps it is a reassurance to others that they are unlikely to be bombarded with access requests at the start, and are likely to be able to 'manage' the gradual creation of a group with access rights and resulting benefits.
